Energy Masters is proud to carry a line of windows, doors, siding, and roofing that qualify for the 2009 Obama Stimulus package tax credit. Under this credit, energy-efficient products that meet government standards will earn you cash back at tax time. You will be reimbursed for up to 30% of the cost of your new windows up to $1500 installed prior to the end of 2010.
But be careful — not all home improvements qualify. Many windows, doors, siding products, and roofs do not qualify — ours do.
As an example, windows are required to have a U-factor AND an SHGC (Solar Heat Gain Coefficient) of no more than .30. This is a number assigned to each window based upon their efficiency rating according to testing done by the NFRC (National Fenestration Ratings Council).
In order to qualify, your windows should have a sticker on them stating their efficiency at the time of installation. CAUTION: MANY COMPANIES WILL REMOVE THESE STICKERS PRIOR TO HAVING THEM INSTALLED IN YOUR HOME. The reason for this is that their marketing materials may have promised one thing while the actual efficiency of their windows is less efficient. Don’t fall victim to this scam. Demand that your windows have the NFRC stickers on them on the day they are installed. If your installer shows up without these stickers, refuse to let them install the windows.
The tax credit was approved for the 2009 AND 2010 calendar years. Be sure to have your windows installed before the end of 2010 to take advantage of this rare opportunity.
